Dolphins was one of those rare cafe-coffeeshops where alcohol is available. They lost their cannabis licence for about a year 2004/5 but have now apparently got it back at the expense of their alcohol licence (according to posts elsewhere on this forum).

Regulations have long demanded that shops choose between alcohol and cannabis but a few well established cafe-coffeeshops have managed to survive. It seems that Dolphins has been forced into line.

Dolphins now has their reefer license back, but no more alcohol for those that care.

Give me reefer anyday, espeically their White Dolphin! Most definitely worth a visit, or three.

this is one cool coffeeshop..the decor is stunning, all polystyrene made into an underwater coral like cave....plenty to look at and plenty to smoke, they even have a table of 3 vaporisers to use....pretty good smoke in their own branded bags with dolphins on, infact dolphins everywhere, lovely ceiling painting....check it out.

Only been once (before they lost their liscense) and the White Dolphin was one of the best white weeds I've had, can't wait to go back and try some more, something else I liked about the place is the level you get your weed from is pure weed smoking only so for a X ciggarette smoker it suits me down to the ground!

... and I can recommend the Northern Lights at the moment :)

Shame about the alcohol license though ~ I do enjoy a cold Heineken with my weed and Dolphins was previously my favourite of all Amsterdam's coffeeshops. It may still be, despite no beer.....

I like the boothes downstairs. But when I went they didn't sell weed. And the dolphin motif is pretty horrid, if you ask me.

visited the dolphin july 2005 . we had heard good things about the
place over the net but wasnt convinced.
The place looks good ! nice decor and the weed was top. Really enjoyed the white dolphin,
the atmosphere and vibe seemed all wrong .
BUT The lad behind the bar stitched me with a dud euro note . scored and left,
wouldnt go back .

Been meaning to add to my earlier comment as I've been again since, the place looks exactly the same the weed (White Dolphin) is E10 a gram and for a white widow, a very nice ww but thats expensive!

Went to Dolphins in March 05' No weed on sale so nipped out to global chillage for weed then back to enjoy with a beer downstarirs in Dolphin.
Fantastic comfy seats, great decor. friendly atmosphere.
There were possibly 12 people downstairs on our last visit, all spread out in the large enclaves, 1 guy got up to leave, staggered to the door and just keeled over in slow motion. A shout from the back of the room, "Welcome to Amsterdam" he was then helped to his feet and left to go on his merry way. Nobody laughed, no ridicule Just 11 people sat thinking "oh shit! I hope I don't do that" Wink

Awesome.

Yeah that quite pricey considering Route 66 do a 1.8g bag of widow for €12.

Still, I keep meaning to stop off at Dolphins just for the sake of it - next time maybe??
