Lemming! You sly dog you...
Nice work on getting all of these review pages together. Hold me to my word that I'll be reporting on the shape of things to come next week.
Coffeeshop 36 is a "MUST Visit" due to their kick ass view of Damrak alone. Don't know about their Reefer or Hash but hear goed things about the Bubblegum.

i like this shop like ltricity says the view of the damrak is great the seating is comfy and i can recommend the bubblegum i luv the strain anyway but this was one of the nicest bubblegum ive had.my only problem is the music
when i was there last in march they were playing really loud techno which isnt my taste of music at all when im smoking but besides that this is a great shop. |

I really like Coffeeshop 36. It was my first Dam smoking experience. I got some seats overlooking the water and it was so relaxing. Although the coffeeshop was quite dark it was a nice atmosphere. Another place i'll be sure to go back to. _________________ Delly |

Top shop, get the nice seats over looking the canal at the back. Didn't buy any weed (had enough to kill a horse on me). Great music tho (trance/ambient). Good shop to kill some time on a cold afternoon.

My first time in Amsterdam was magical. My first stop was Coffee Shop 36, the one overlooking the Damrak. And I fell in love with it. Its a place that makes time stop. If you get the seat in the way back overlooking the canal; the wall of the coffee shop actually goes into the water. Breeze comes in, wooden floor, wooden benches and tables. Its a place for introspection and quiet implosion of satisfaction at life.
The DJ has amazing music in his collection. He is a friendly person if you are mellow and receptive. He is also the main person who helps you select and purchase what you would like to smoke. He is a connessuir and his advice is good. The white widow cleanses well he then asks you what music you'd like to hear along with the smoke you selected and he has some very deep grooves and rare subculture electronic work that is amazing.
I like Massive Attack, Portishead and Marc Knopfler as a staple but he played me some amazing Paris club music that was very very groovy. No Skunk Anaise ripoff either.
Not enough praise for the understated 36. The inside is nothing like the neon sign outside. it's very balanced. Dont go expecting anything and you'll find everything.
But do go.

| I have to say, sitting in the back room of 36, looking out on to the canal and the Damrak with the window open is one of my favorite places. Last time I was there, I remember sprinking "Thunder Powder" over a nice Jack Herrer and wishing that I never had to leave... |

We turned up here on a Monday PM. We weren't lucky enough to cadge a seat by the canal. This left seats by the bar or on bench-style seating that would be better suited to a primary school changing-room (they have tried to negate this by covering the pews with foam and leatherette but it doesn't work!). Very uncomfortable with a coffee-table close-by to skin your shin. I don't mind sitting on a hard bench or chair but in most coffeeshops these are designed with the shape of the human body in mind.
Stayed about 20 minutes max. I was left with the impression that it was a bit dark inside and the finish was a little frayed round the edges.
5g of Chrystal was purchased on a special for 30 euros. Decent but as reflected in the price only about half as good as an AK47 for example.
There was a lady dealer on our visit and she had chosen to blast out from the speakers some atrocious euro-trance nonsense. Wouldn't bother going back since I preferred those coffeeshops that are off the main path and more chilled out. |

I have been in here several times. One of the staff seemed to have mistaken me for a spanish american and decided to be very rude and start to bad mouth me in spanish.
I am indian so started bad mouthing him in a language he couldn't understand.
After this little altercation and the fact that the 2 grams of dry dusty weed i bought here put me off the place. There are far superior establishments around this strip, both in terms of atmosphore and budha. Give it a miss |

| I didn't buy anything to smoke here, but I did have a spcae muffin. Nothing special and my other mate who had one said he didn't feel any effect. Was nice and tasty, if dry, chocolate muffin, but hardly high inducing. crappy dance music put me off. shame as the view was nice and the seats quite comfy. |

went here in November. was on my stag and we satyed in the old nickle just up the road ( not a nice hotel ).
ak47 was great. we spent many a happy hour in here playing pool and getting messed up. only down side was the no booze rules that have come in. but what can you do. service was great. music a bit loud. one of the lads was planked on a lot of mushrooms. the staff where great to him. gave him something to bring him down. let him sleep it off while we played pool and smoked them out of ak. |

This was the first shop I went to on my very first trip to Amsterdam in 1989. On that occasion we smoked purple haze and my mate kept passing out.
Ever since I've gone there at least once a day when I've been in town. Their most expensive black is generally the best choice. It's name changes but the effect remains the same. _________________ Old enough to know knetter |
