ACD Page: Blues Brothers
I wouldn't reccomend this coffeeshop for atmosphere, the dealer was rude and the decor was crap. The orange bud he sold us was good enough, but didn't compare to the grass we brought from the grey area. |

Advantage:
-It's the closest coffeeshop to the Flying Pig, which is one of the better hostels in centrum.
-It's open til 1am/3am weekends
-It doesn't sell booze anymore (the downstairs bar used to be filled with seedy types, aand the dealer/smoking area on the first floor was like a different shop.
-The weed the BB sells ... works.
Disadvantages:
- The weed isn't particularly interesting or special.
- The dealers weigh up each bag as it's sold, rather than having a bunch of pre-weighed bags. This is an advantage with a good dealer, but a disadvantage with a dodgy one.
- The scale readout is carefully obscured, so customers can't read it (at least it was all the times I've been there)
- Dealers are often rude, and object to customers buying a drink downstairs, then coming upstairs to smoke their own. Dealers apparently work on commision, and view the upstairs area as 'their' place, affecting how much money they make each shift. That means they only want customers who pay them (gving money to the BB's diownstairs bar doesn't count). _________________ ... |

Stopped in here for a break on a busy day running around. I have no idea why it is called the Blues Brothers as there is nothing connecting it to the film at all, which doesn't really matter, but why bother calling it that if you're not at least going to have a few pictures up or something. Anyway, its not particularly memorable inside, but its a good size over 2 floors, so you should at least get a seat. We didn't buy any draw from them so can't comment on that, just sat there for a joint and drink, then left.
Reading this back it sounds like I'm slagging them off, I'm not - it serves its purpose as a safe bet for finding a seat in the centre of town to have a spliff, most times of the day. _________________ John Steed |

We went in here a few times. It was a friendly place with a nice atmos, with funky lighting and modern decor, one of the few shops I would bother with in this street.
On one visit I bought some Blueberry 1g E7.50 which is a fave variety but it didn't seem half as nice as I've had before (or maybe I had started to get used to stronger stuff by then) _________________ A toke a day keeps the blues away - Hils xxx |

Blueberry=Noon/Mellow Yellow.
You can bet if Grey Area did it, I would buy it Other than that, Noon or Mellow Yellow for BlueBerry |

The Blues Brothers is a great shop.
We visited Amsterdam 2 times, and went to Blues Brothers both days, because of the chilled out atmosphere there and the good prices they had on their weed.
We bought the following ones:
- Mango 9,2€/gr. - very fruity taste, clear and good high
- blueberry 8,2€/gr. - we never smoked Blueberry, but from the reports of other people I can imagine this isnt the real deal, didnt taste special, but was still a good bud, smooth smoke
The dealer was very friendly, we asked him different things about the city everytime we visited and he always answered, even though it was a bit crowded, great shop |

Me and 2 mates spent alot of time (and money) in blues brothers and found it to be an excellent coffeeshop.
When we first entered we were all Id'd and only one of my mates had his ID.
So me and my other friend had to walk all the way back to Oudezijds Achterburgwal to get our ID from the hotel.
Being as we'd only been in amsterdam 2 hours and were stoned out of our trees we got lost looking for blues brothers again, we walked passed about 6 times and didnt notice. Our other friend who we'd left there was just leaving to go back to the hotel to try and find us as we walked passed and shouted us in.
According to our friend the guy with short blonde hair who was the bud tender had rang our hotel and told them that if we came back we were to meet our friend on dam square at 4.30, he also said that if we found the coffeeshop and our friend had left he would tell us to go to dam square at 4.30 and supposedly went to alot of trouble to try and get us all back together giving ou friend details of how to find the coffeeshop and drew a map to find his way around
Pretty sound guy in my opinion
Also we bought 1g of blueberry, 1g of la confidential, 1g of black nepal, 1g of nepals finest, 1g of cali orange and 1g of ketma gold
We were impressed with all of them.
Blues brothers gets my vote. Will defintaly be going again when we go back in august |

KO simple question in the blues brothers review in the directory someone said
"Big Ste from UK. Sent 18 Dec 2005.
Being mere footsteps from the hostel across the road, the Blues Brothers coffeeshop was frequented by me and a couple of friends quite a lot when we stayed there. Friendly service, cheap prices, fair quality. I recommended this place to a friend who later visited on a trip to Amsterdam, and they were also pleased I still keep a lighter from that place next to my computer. It's empty though "
Just wondering what hostel its "mere footsteps" from? |

I must admit, i sort of stumbled across this place. I had been past quite a few times, but never stopped in. My friends stopped in on one trip and told us the weed was good and cheap. I eventually stopped in there on my August trip and was very pleased with the quality of the weed and the prices.
The weed is sold in bags of €10, €20, €30, €40, but the weed itself is priced per gram, so you buy x.xg depending on bag size. _________________ Just trying to be 'En Vogue' |
